FORT SMITH -- A new literacy campaign in Sebastian County aims to raise awareness about local literacy rates and highlight local services that support literacy efforts.
The Literacy Council of Western Arkansas on Aug. 28 launched its "Be a Bestie" campaign, the first of its kind for the organization.
"This initiative aims to raise community awareness of the council's services, recruit volunteers and secure crucial funding to expand literacy support across Sebastian County," stated an Aug. 25 news release by the organization.
"We're asking our community to empower one another. Whether you volunteer your time, spread the word, or contribute financially, every action helps ensure that more adults in Sebastian County can read, learn and thrive," said Literacy Council of Western Arkansas Boa
