CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) -- A 23-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly stabbed two Champaign firefighters and a medical technician Thursday night, causing "serious" injuries.
Champaign Police said in a news release that at approximately 9:40 p.m., a person called 911 and reported they were experiencing mental health concerns at a location near Neil Street and Buena Vista Drive. First responders, including Champaign Fire and Arrow Ambulance, were dispatched to assist and transport the individual to the hospital.
Then at 9:52 p.m., the personnel on scene called out an immediate need for assistance over the radio, indicating an in-progress stabbing at their location. Police officers rushed to the scene and found two Champaign firefighters and a paramedic with serious stab wounds.
