(Gray News) - The Powerball jackpot is now the second-largest in U.S. lottery history.

Powerball officials reported on Friday the jackpot rose to $1.8 billion. It is now the second-largest prize in the game’s history, following behind the world record of $2.04 billion that was won in November 2022.

“Excitement is building as players look forward to tomorrow night’s drawing for this historic jackpot,” said Matt Strawn, Powerball Product Group Chair and Iowa Lottery CEO.

The next drawing will take place on Saturday at 10:59 p.m. EST.

If a winner is chosen during the next drawing, they will have the option to receive annual payments culminating in $1.8 billion or a lump sum amount of $826.4 million. Both amounts considered are before taxes.
