LANSING, MI - As of Sept. 2, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel had sued the Donald Trump administration 31 times, challenging policies from birthright citizenship to ending funding for electric vehicle infrastructure.

Republicans and Trump’s team have criticized the AG’s strategy, litigating in partnership with other largely Democrat-led states, as wasteful political theater.

But Nessel said the suits don’t cost much - under $10,000 in total - and are necessary to help Michigan recoup billions in dollars that would be otherwise lost.

Many of the lawsuits are still in progress, and it’s not yet clear what the ultimate impact, economic or otherwise, will be when the dust settles.

But both sides have claimed wins at this point.
