ALLEN PARK -- Detroit Lions defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo and cornerback Khalil Dorsey didn’t return to the field until late in training camp, spending most of the month on the PUP list.

But the Detroit Lions feel both are physically ready, with coach Dan Campbell saying Wingo is further ahead of schedule than he thought he would be at this point.

Wingo suffered a knee injury late last season, had an initial surgery and then a second unexpected one to clean some things up over the summer . The second-year defensive lineman returned to practice in the last week of camp, and has impressed his coaches with how he’s attacked the opportunity. With Levi Onwuzurike and Alim McNeill out, the Lions could use as many options as possible on their defensive line out of the gates.
