MOORHEAD — The man arrested this week in Moorhead for murder searched numerous times for how thallium, a highly toxic and odorless metal, could be used as poison and how much and how long it would take to kill someone with it, according to charging documents filed Friday, Sept. 5.

Police in St. Cloud started investigating 35-year-old Stuart Hanmer in June, after they were made aware of the poisoning death of 33-year-old Cody Ernst at the Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, where doctors said there was no way Ernst could have been exposed to the level of poison he had in his system from environmental sources.
