Evergreen Public Schools’ classified workers, who have been on strike since Aug. 26 , voted Thursday to reject the district’s “final offer,” according to the union.

Approximately 1,400 paraeducators, bus drivers, mechanics, maintenance staff, technicians, security and service workers went on strike the day school had been scheduled to start for the year .

A start date for Evergreen schools has not been set due to ongoing negotiations.

“Today, our members sent a clear and powerful message,” Evergreen Public School Employees Chapter President Mindy Troffer-Cooper said in a news release. “We will not settle for less than what students and staff deserve.”
