The Canadian luggage and accessories retailer Monos is opening its first U.S. store on Friday on Boston’s Newbury Street.

Boston is part of a U.S. expansion that’s also slated to include Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C. But Boston was chosen first, in part because the company saw a strong base of customers from the area through its online business, according to CEO and co-founder Victor Tam.
