A man has been charged with the murder of his mother, after police said she was found shot to death in her home in Philadelphia.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025, officers were called to a home on the 1600 block of E. Tulpehocken St. after receiving a report of an unresponsive person.

The victim, who was later identified as Crystal Bell, 80, was suffering from a wound to her head, police said. She was pronounced dead at 7:02 am.

Police said the woman's son, Luke Bell, 48, was initially arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025, for an unrelated firearms violation.

According to police, a preliminary investigation revealed that the gun recovered from Bell at the time
