DOVER — Delaware Technical Community College has canceled its top economic summit in Kent County for the year less than two weeks before its scheduled date.

The Central Delaware Economic Summit was canceled on Sept. 2 with college officials citing low registrations this year and declining attendance over the years.

The summit was planned for Sept. 17.

Delaware Tech officials decided to “take a pause” on the event to discuss with stakeholders, prior participants and state and local policy makers “whether the event in its current format” best serves Kent County, according to a spokesperson.

Questions by the Delaware Business Times on past attendance and current registration numbers for the Central Delaware Economic Summit were not returned.
