PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) - A good neighbor saved a Northwest Portland family’s house from burning to the ground on Tuesday, and it was all caught on a doorbell camera.

Mikey Mann was walking to work when he said he smelled smoke and heard crackling. He assumed it was the start of a barbecue, but quickly realized this wasn’t the case. The smoke was instead coming from a nearby home.

“That was my first thought, to run up the steps and bang on the door to see if anyone was home. Thank goodness no one was home, but that meant no one was there to put out the fire,” Mann said.

He quickly ran to the fire department down the street, and firefighters were responding to the house fire within minutes.
