BRENTWOOD, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Family members dropping children off at school on Long Island were reportedly detained by agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, New York State Deputy Speaker Phil Ramos announced on Thursday.
Masked ICE agents were seen conducting enforcement actions outside of Brentwood High School on Wednesday morning along Third Avenue, representatives from the community organization Islip Forward said.
Ramos said he was alerted to the incident by the family of a man who was detained outside the high school, shortly after dropping off his child.
"What should have been a day of laughter and possibility turned into one of tears and despair. Children traumatized, unsure if their parents would return, is something no person with compassion can accept," Ramos sai
