CADILLAC — District Health Department #10 will stop offering in-house drinking water testing services beginning Sept. 25.

According to a Sept. 5 news release, the department announced the closure of its in-house laboratory, citing flat or reduced funding across public health programs. The last day residents may ship overnight water samples to the department is Sept. 24, and any samples received after the deadline will not be accepted.

“It’s very important that our residents have clean, tested drinking water,” DHD#10 Health Officer Kevin Hughes said. “However, public health has continued to see flat or reductions in funding across the board, and our in-house water testing lab is one of the areas impacted by this.”
