The 66th annual International Camel & Ostrich Races will bring multiple shows and family-focused attractions to the historic mining town, with riders mounting camels, ostriches, and zebras in a series of novelty races.
The weekend begins with Hot Camel Nights, a Friday evening performance scheduled for 5 p.m.
On Saturday, two shows are planned at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., along with the Camel Hump to C Street between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m., where camels walk through town.
The Storey County Sheriff’s Office, in an online Facebook post, is reminding the public to expect increased pedestrian activity and to park only in designated areas.
Deputies say they will lead the Camel Hump route during a rolling road closure, meaning the roads will remain open, but traffic will move slowly behind the camels
