A New Jersey man died after eating Boar’s Head liverwurst tainted with listeria. Now, a federal judge says his widow’s lawsuit can move forward — minus one claim.
Linda Renavitz filed suit after her husband, Robert Renavitz, died in June 2024 from a listeria infection caused by liverwurst purchased at a Stop & Shop in Clifton, according to the lawsuit.
The product was manufactured at Boar’s Head’s Jarratt, Virginia, facility, which was later shut down following a nationwide outbreak . That facility is reportedly set to reopen soon.
Health officials confirmed that the strain of listeria that infected Renavitz matched samples taken from the Jarratt plant, according to the New Jersey U.S. District Court opinion.
The outbreak led to dozens of hospitalizations and 10 deaths across 1
