Leslie Bramlett believes it is her duty to tell the lesser-known stories of people of color at the historic Old Barracks Museum in Trenton.
“It’s my job to tell people about the barracks, America’s origin story, and how it comes to be and why it’s so important to our nation’s story,” said Bramlett, 54, of Delanco. “But I also am obligated to tell them all of the pieces of it and all of the people who are represented as ancestors in this spot.”
For the last four years, Bramlett has worked as a historical interpreter and tour guide at the barracks, which were built in 1758 during the French and Indian War to house British soldiers.
During the Revolutionary War, British and American soldiers used the barracks for multiple purposes, and it was a vital location during the Battle of Trento
