CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Changes are coming to driver’s education requirements in Ohio starting later this month.

Anyone 21 and under must complete the full driver’s education course and 50 hours of practice as of Sept. 30.

Under the previous law, drivers aged 18 to 21 could opt in for a shorter course or skip lessons entirely.

While lawmakers did not approve driver’s education courses in schools, districts must excuse up to eight hours for driving instruction outside class time.

The legislation was approved in June when Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine signed the state budget.
