SALEM, Ore. - Oregon is set to receive federal aid following approval of a Major Disaster Declaration by President Trump, according to state officials.
This comes after severe weather in March affected Coos, Curry, and Douglas counties. According to Representative Val Hoyle (D-Ore.) and senators Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), the declaration allows federal funding to support recovery efforts from the devastating floods and weather-related damage. The storms, spanning from March 13 to March 20, caused major flooding, power outages, and road blockages due to rapid snowmelt and strong winds.
