Ontarians are still paying too much tax every time they fuel up.

Every time a driver fuels up in Ontario, they’re paying a provincial gas tax, a federal gas tax, a provincial sales tax, a federal sales tax and a hidden carbon tax.

Add them all up and taxes cost Ontarians 34 cents per litre of gas. That means the soccer mom who brings her kids to practice in a minivan pays about $25 in taxes to fill up her tank. That’s money politicians are taking from families that could be used to pay for rent, groceries, clothes and other essentials.

To their credit, both the Ontario and federal governments provided relief recently, but politicians still have more work to do to cut taxes and make life more affordable.
