According to a news release from the Trumbull County Combined Health District, the first human case of West Nile Virus (WNV) in Trumbull County is being reported by the Trumbull County Combined Health District.

The positive case was confirmed by the Ohio Department of Health.

Within the release, the Trumbull County Combined Health District is reminding the community to be vigilant against being bitten by a mosquito.

Some tips that were shared include:

Applying insect repellants to exposed skin. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered insect repellents are proven safe and effective, according to the release.

Wear clothing treated with EPA-registered repellent for extra protection.

Take extra care to use repellents from dusk to dawn.
