PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Phoenix Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect after a woman was seriously hurt during a violent sexual assault last month.

The department’s Adult Sex Crimes Unit is investigating the assault that happened early in the morning on Thursday, Aug. 14, near 44th Street and Oak Street , between Thomas and McDowell roads.

Just after 4 a.m., officers were dispatched to a “check welfare” call after someone called 911 to report hearing yelling coming from a nearby alley. When they arrived, police followed a blood trail that led to a partially unclothed, unconscious woman.
