PORTLAND, Maine — All week we've been watching the timing of a cold front set to sweep through Maine on Saturday.

As time went on, it became clear that the front would be slower, which meant more dry weather for Saturday. That said, it ALSO meant more time to destabilize the atmosphere and produce some severe thunderstorms.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed part of Maine in a low-level severe risk for Saturday.

To be clear, though, we rarely have a risk over a Level 2 on the scale in this part of the country—so the Level 1 designation is not nothing.

Things will start off quiet Saturday with a mixture of sun and clouds and probably some summery feeling air due to high dew points.
