A man has been charged after allegedly threatening to kill a police officer on a social media platform.

On August 26, police were notified of alleged death threats mentioning a Hunter Valley officer in the comment section.

Officers from the Hunter Valley district and the Counter Terrorism and Special Tactics Terrorism Investigation Squad launched inquiries.

Just after 6am on Tuesday, police stopped two vehicles in Merriwa and spoke to the drivers, a 32-year-old man and a 52-year-old man.
