PEKIN, Ill. (WMBD) — Chief Meteorologist Chris Yates was in Pekin on Friday for our CI Road Trip.

Chris was visiting Pekin Marigold Festival to enjoy the first-ever Friday Night Tailgate, which is being held before a Pekin Football home game.

Festival Chairperson Val Springborn said this year's theme is "Marigold Pep-Rally," and the tailgate fits perfectly with the theme.

"We have, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., free food, free entertainment, face painting, anything you can find at a tail gate," Springborn said.

The festival will also continue through Sunday with Art in the Park, a Pop-Up Museum and the carnival.

WMBD will also be taking part in the Marigold Festival Parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
