HANNA CITY, Ill. (WMBD) -- A 200-year-old antique rifle has been safely returned to Wildlife Prairie Park and it's thanks to the community.

In April, the two-century-old firearm was stolen from the Park's Log Room display, park CEO Roberta English said.

She said that thanks to tips from the public and efforts from the Peoria County Sheriff's Office, the historic 36-caliber muzzle-loading percussion cap rifle has been recovered.

English said no arrests have been made.

The rifle, which was donated to the park in 1981, was donated by Russell W. Brooks, whose family had owned the rifle since 1835.

The park's Board of Directors and security advisors are now deciding the best way to display the rifle moving forward, English said.
