LEAVENWORTH, Kan. —

A former Leavenworth educator has been convicted of sexually abusing six elementary school students over a period of nearly two years.

Jerome Riscovallez, 55, pleaded no contest and was found guilty Friday of two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, prosecutors said. Advertisement

Court records show the abuse occurred between August 2023 and February 2025, often in Riscovallez’s classroom .

Incidents included inappropriate touching, forcing students to sit on his lap, and offering candy and gifts in exchange for contact.

Six victims, ranging in age from 8 to 10, were identified by law enforcement.

Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson said the plea protects the children from the trauma of testifying in open court.
