DULUTH — A Duluth man has been cited with a misdemeanor in connection with the Camp House Fire, which burned thousands of acres in the Brimson area in May.

Parker John Wilson, 27, was formally cited Friday for failure to extinguish a fire. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and St. Louis County Attorney's Office confirmed the citation is connected with the Camp House Fire, but released few other details.

"This misdemeanor charge comes following the DNR’s investigation into the fire’s cause, which is believed to be an unattended campfire," the DNR said in a statement.

The fire, which started May 11, burned over 12,000 acres and destroyed over 150 structures, according to the DNR.
