KIRKLAND, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) -- A one-car accident in the town of Kirkland on Thursday injured one person and shut down a road for several hours, according to Oneida County Sheriffs.

Sheriffs were called to the accident on Fountain Street in the Town of Kirkland on Thursday, September 4. Upon their arrival, sheriffs were met with a rolled-over car with the driver trapped inside. First responders were able to extricate the driver, later identified as 22-year-old Patricia Cerda of Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Further investigation found that Cerda was traveling southbound on Fountain Street, when officers say she was distracted and was driving at an inappropriate speed for the wet road conditions.
