DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – A proposal to relocate Berkeley County’s EMS station to property beside the Daniel Island School and Berkeley County Library is drawing mixed reactions from neighbors.
Berkeley County EMS has operated out of a City of Charleston fire station on Seven Farms Drive for years. With the city reclaiming that space for expanded training, county officials say a new home is needed to keep EMS service on the island.
Councilman Jarrod Brooks said keeping EMS on Daniel Island is a priority and moving service off the island would almost double response times.
“EMS leaving Daniel Island is just a non starter,” Brooks said. “It’s about finding what the right location is, what the best location is on Daniel Island.”
