El Centro --The El Centro Police Department has released a critical incident community briefing detailing an officer-involved shooting that occurred on May 21, 2025, in the 200 block of Second Street. The presentation in

Police said the incident began around 8:08 p.m., when residents called 911 to report a man attempting to enter a home and later pointing an object at bystanders. Callers told dispatchers the suspect appeared to be armed.

When an officer arrived near Second and State Streets, he encountered a man matching the description, later identified as Ezekiel O. Esposa, a resident of El Centro with prior arrests for assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, and obstructing an officer, as well as a conviction for attempted murder.
