The Powerball Grand Prize for the Sept. 6 drawing Powerball jackpot rose to an estimated annuitized $1.8 billion on Friday, marking the second-largest jackpot in Powerball and U.S. lottery history.

The Texas Lottery announced the cash value of the Grand Prize in the upcoming Powerball drawing is worth an estimated $826.4 million. They say that if no one claims the winning ticket, the Grand Prize could grow to an estimated annuitized $2 billion.

Executive director of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Courtney Arbour explained how the rapid growth of the Grand Prize can benefit local communities.
