KILLEEN, Texas — It's hard, a net divides it and you need a paddle to hit a ball over the net. No, it's not tennis. Pickleball is coming to Long Branch Park in Killeen.

The City of Killeen announced on its website that renovations are coming soon to Long Branch Park, converting an existing tennis court into four new pickleball courts. The city expects it to take two weeks to complete. While renovations are underway, tennis courts will be closed to allow for proper resurfacing, installation of nets and court furniture and proper curing of the new pickleball surface, the city said.

Killeen's city council approved the $25,000 project in partnership with Texas Parks and Wildlife, receiving a matching grant on May 5 that reimburses fifty percent of the project cost ($12,500). As pickleball co
