RENO COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — Fire crews from multiple agencies responded Friday afternoon to a house fire in rural Reno County that left a family pet dead.

According to Reno County Emergency Management, the call came in around 12:08 p.m. in the 14,000 block of Bauman Road.

Units from Fire Districts 9, 8, and the Reno/Harvey Joint District 2 were first on scene, with assistance from Mt. Hope Fire and Sedgwick County Fire District 1.

Firefighters reported smoke coming from the roof vents when they arrived. Crews launched an interior attack and contained the flames to a single bathroom, but officials said the rest of the home sustained smoke and heat damage.
