VILLE PLATTE, La. (KALB) - The Humane Society of Louisiana (HSLA) reported that in August, two female pit bulls were rescued from a neglectful owner, thanks to the combined efforts of HSLA and Hayden’s Hoofbeat Haven and Training (HHHT).
The two animal rescue organizations were able to secure the dogs after the owner was reportedly unable to provide any vet records. They said Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office cited the owner, Kim Carona, of Ville Platte, for cruelty.
HSLA said the brown pit bull, now named Honey Bear, was extremely emaciated, had internal parasites, no vaccine history and was infested with fleas which caused skin lesions from scratching.
The white pit bull, now named Patches, was also emaciated and infested with fleas, had internal parasites, was heartworm positive an
