Rain delays at Trustmark Park will be minimized in future baseball seasons.

The Mississippi Mud Monsters announced Thursday that the Pearl ballpark is undergoing a makeover this offseason. Officials said that the days of having a grass infield are over and that the surface will be covered by turf.

“That means no more nights washed away by rain, no more waiting out storms, and a whole lot more chances to pack the swamp together. Picture it: two-tone green ‘grass,’ rich brown ‘dirt,’ and crisp white lines that shine no matter the weather,” a release from the Mud Monsters reads.
