LORAIN, Ohio (WOIO) - The ordinance brought to the Lorain City Council will charge parents with a first-degree misdemeanor if their child is caught out past curfew or committing a crime.

Heather Doskocil is a parent and business owner in Lorain who is in favor of the proposed rule.

“They should be responsible for their children and know where they are, you know. If they’re out running around with their friends and getting in trouble, I think it’s a good idea, you should at least have an idea of what your kids are doing,” said Doskocil.

Doskocil owns Over the Moon in downtown Lorain. It’s an artisan gift shop, with one big rule. No children under the age of 17 can enter without a parent.

“Because they can be disrespectful,” said Doskocil.
