COLUMBIA, S.C. — A Sumter man is facing prison time after being convicted of wire fraud for actions he took while working at a postal service processing center in Columbia.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for South Carolina announced on Friday that 41-year-old Vincent Anthony Gailliard had been sentenced to 30 months, more than two years, in federal prison for actions he took between April 2022 and May 2023 while working for the U.S. Postal Service. Prosecutors alleged that Gailliard stole mail containing bank checks intended for businesses and people. He would then take pictures of the checks on his cell phone and offer to sell the checks online, complete with account and routing numbers.
