AUSTIN, Tex. (KGNS) - Gov. Greg Abbott signed three bills into law Friday, September 5, aimed at improving camp safety and flood preparedness in Texas following deadly flooding that killed 27 people at a Hill Country youth camp.
The legislation, passed during the second special session last month, includes House Bill 1 and Senate Bill 1, which work in tandem to establish stricter safety requirements for youth camps located near flood-prone areas. Senate Bill 3 directs the installation of more flood warning sirens in high-risk regions across the state.
