Washington County authorities arrested a 30-year-old man accused of crashing into a motorcyclist head-on Wednesday in Cornelius.
Cristhian Carranza is accused of third- and fourth-degree assault, reckless endangering of another person, reckless driving and criminal mischief in the second degree, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
County deputies responded to the collision Wednesday after 6 a.m. near the 33000 block of Southwest Johnson School Road. Investigators determined that Carranza was driving eastbound when he attempted to pass another driver in a no-passing zone.
Authorities say he then crashed into an oncoming motorcyclist heading westbound.
