A Rio Vista man arrested on weapons charges in Sacramento County was later linked to multiple sexual assaults in several cities, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office.

On July 3, officials said 25-year-old Bernarnino Vazquez was arrested following an incident involving the discharge of a shotgun.

But the next day, Vazquez was facing additional charges after he was positively identified in a photo lineup for allegedly assaulting a massage therapist in Sacramento, the sheriff's office said.

San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office investigators then linked Vazquez to a case in their jurisdiction.

Officials said Vazquez then confessed to multiple sexual assaults across the cities of Thornton, Isleton, Elk Grove, Stockton and Sacramento.
