Stockton's Greek festival brings a taste of Greece to Saint Basil Church

STOCKTON, Calif. —

The annual Greek festival at Saint Basil Greek Orthodox Church in Stockton is underway, offering attendees a lively celebration of Greek culture with music, food and artisans. Abed Hanania, a dessert vendor at the festival, said, "It's just like you're in Greece but better."

Father Pete Sotiras of St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church emphasized the importance of the event, saying, "This is our biggest fundraiser for our church and to support our mission here."

Visitors can enjoy a variety of authentic Greek dishes, including sweet treats like Greek donut holes topped with honey, walnuts, and cinnamon, as described by Stephanie Bryant, who is making the desserts. The festival also features slow-cooked lamb and other traditional dishes.
