BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Have you noticed the windshield stickers on fire engines around Baton Rouge?

Chances are, you may have missed them. Only three engines have them.

They honor Captains Walker Hill, CJ Sanders, and Phillip Paternostro.

“When you got that chemistry with a captain, it makes things just 10 times easier,” said Kevin Pullen, a firefighter with BRFD.

Pullen is with Station 16.

He’s been fighting fires for over a decade and used to ride with Capt. Sanders. He says he’s learned a lot from him.

He also said he’ll miss his advice.

Sanders lost his life to a rare form of cancer in 2023.

“Coming in, he embraced me as a brother, family,” detailed Pullen. “The life advice that he gave me and the rest of the crew will forever be remembered.”
