A much-loved wedding venue in Sydney’s Hawkesbury region has been destroyed by fire, leaving devastated couples rushing to find replacements with only days to spare.

Loxley on Bellbird Hill, a heritage-listed property dating back to the 1860s, went up in flames on Friday evening.

Fire crews were called to the Kurrajong Hills venue shortly after 7pm, battling for hours before the inferno was brought under control.

Police confirmed specialist fire investigators and crime scene officers are now examining the ruins.

“Scene of Crime Officers and specialist fire investigators will today examine the scene of a fire which destroyed a wedding venue in Sydney’s northwest overnight,” a NSW Police spokesman said.

“The main building was destroyed with nearby buildings also impacted.”
