BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Michael Ryan Williams used a hammer and knife to kill a man he'd previously loaned money to but later accused of identity theft, police said in a court filing released Friday.
Williams, 39, is accused of attacking the man Tuesday afternoon after spotting him walking in an alley on South Brown Street.
He's charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bail.
According to the filing, Williams came up behind the victim -- whose name has not been released -- and hit him on the head with a hammer, according to the filing.
More hammer strikes to the head followed -- an estimated 15 in total -- while the victim was on the ground, police said. Williams then stabbed him repeatedly, according to the filing.
