MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man who police say became combative with them walked away with quadruple the charges thanks to Madera County K-9 Deputy Canelo.

On Friday morning, deputies contacted 38-year-old John Bartollome after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on the 28000 block of Cholla Avenue.

Police say Bartollome, who was sitting in the driver's seat, appeared to be under the influence and became combative when contacted.

He was detained following a brief struggle.

That's when Canelo came in - alerting deputies to the presence of narcotics in the car. Police say a search resulted in the discovery of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
