CEDAR HILL, Texas — Cedar Hill High School’s Red Army Marching Band practices like they perform — at their best.
“If you're playing your best all the time, then nobody ever has anything to say,” said Madison Carroll, Cedar Hill Marching Band Piccollo Section Leader.
Drum Major Matthew Robertson agreed. “You do also have to have leadership, discipline, pride, heart and dedication,” he said.
Those values, students say, come from Band Director Dr. Derrick Walker.
“We teach them about life skills. Our favorite quote is discipline makes -- then punishment unnecessary,” said Dr. Walker. “I like to call it ‘edutainment’ because we educate and we entertain you at the same time, so the kids have lots of fun.”
