GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Greenville County Sheriff’s Office is cracking down on crimes against animals.
There’s now an investigator whose entire job is making sure those cases don’t go unnoticed.
Darren Britt investigates animal cruelty crimes.
He works with Greenville County Animal Control on major cases involving animals, including hoarding, ill treatment, and felonies. He recently busted a major dog fighting ring.
These types of cases often lead to criminal investigations, and the sheriff’s office is responsible for filing charges.
When he first took on the role in 2023, he was assigned to ten cases. This year, he’s already had 35.
While he can’t save every animal he encounters, he can give some a second chance and a better life.
He gave his first interview on the job on
