COLUMBIA, S.C. — Some Gamecock fans didn’t wait for Saturday to start the weekend tailgating festivities.
RVs were spotted setting up along Assembly Street and the State Fairgrounds on Friday, as fans got a head start on tailgating before the University of South Carolina faces South Carolina State at the Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday.
Some fans say camping out overnight is part of the tradition.
Columbia resident Butler Cochran said, “It’s just been tradition for us, we know everyone out here and have been seeing them for years.” Cochran said staying over allows his family to enjoy food, drinks, and cornhole before heading into the game, then return to relax afterward.
