The Geelong Cats have landed themselves a week off and a preliminary final edging themselves one step closer to the Grand Final, but it wasn’t without controversy with footy fans left fuming over some significant "soft" umpire decisions.

Geelong were in cruise control as they looked to put a cricket score on Brisbane until late in the first half on Friday night an array of “soft” and “disgraceful” umpire calls flipped the script turning the game on its head.

The MCG rang out in boos after the Cats were denied a goal as Brisbane were gifted two late in the second quarter.

The dramatic turnaround changed the momentum of the match just shy of half time, however the goals for the Lions weren’t enough to clinch victory against Geelong, going on to win 16.16 (112) to 11.8 (74).
