PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Construction is one of Arizona’s fastest-growing industries and it’s also one of the deadliest. However, it may not be for the reasons you may think.

The latest CDC report shows construction workers are more likely to overdose on drugs than any other profession.

“Construction workers are at risk, and I’m not surprised by it at all,” said Stephanie Siete, a drug education consultant.

The CDC reports construction workers are more likely to die from an overdose than those in any other line of work.

Here in Arizona, almost 200 construction workers died from drugs in 2023 and made up nearly 13% of all overdose deaths that year .
